Help Build a Canada Without Homelessness

At the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness (CAEH), we believe homelessness is solvable. We work alongside communities, governments, frontline organizations, and people with lived expertise to help build housing-focused systems that measurably reduce homelessness across Canada.

CAEH is evolving. We are a modern social impact organization that combines systems change, advisory services, data, policy, learning, coaching, and innovation to create lasting impact at scale.

We are looking for people who are:

  • Outcomes-focused

  • Collaborative and adaptable

  • Energized by meaningful work

  • Comfortable navigating complexity and change

  • Curious, thoughtful, and action-oriented

  • Motivated by building better systems and stronger communities

If that sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.

The Opportunity

As our Municipal Government Relations Specialist, you will play an important role in helping CAEH strengthen communities, scale impact, and accelerate progress toward ending homelessness in Canada.

You will work across systems change, policy, and consulting to help move priorities from ideas into action.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys meaningful work, strong collaboration, and solving complex challenges in a fast-moving environment. You will have the opportunity to influence projects, improve systems, contribute to organizational growth, and help shape the future of CAEH as we continue to evolve.

What You’ll Do In This Role, You Will:

  • Work with Business Development to connect communities to solutions and CAEH’s service offerings.

  • Monitor municipal policy, council agendas, budgets, and decisions relevant to homelessness and housing, and brief internal teams on developments.

  • Support the design and delivery of advocacy strategies and campaigns directed at municipal governments.

  • Prepare briefing notes, policy summaries, correspondence, presentations, and submissions tailored to municipal audiences.

  • Represent CAEH at municipal meetings, associations, forums, coalitions, and events, building visibility and influence.

  • Coordinate with colleagues across the organization to align messaging and priorities.

  • Support CAEH’s community partners to strengthen their own municipal advocacy and engagement.

  • Support CAEH’s federal and provincial government relations work, as part of an integrated Government Relations and Advocacy team.

  • Assist with the development of new service offerings, based on discussions and experience with the municipal sector.

  • Maintain accurate records of government contacts, interactions, and commitments in CAEH’s CRM and complete any required lobbying registration and reporting.

  • Track, evaluate, and report on engagement activities and outcomes against advocacy goals.

  • Stay current on trends in municipal government, homelessness, housing policy, and intergovernmental relations.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

You’ll Also
  • Collaborate across teams to move strategic priorities forward.

  • Use data, evidence, and feedback to guide decision-making.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement across projects, systems, and service delivery.

  • Support work that balances mission impact and organizational sustainability.

  • Help foster a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable team culture.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means:

  • Strengthen CAEH’s relationships, credibility, and influence with municipal governments across Canada.

  • Advance municipal adoption of policies and practices that contribute to ending homelessness.

  • Deliver timely, high-quality briefing, advocacy, and engagement materials that support CAEH’s priorities.

  • Ensure effective coordination and alignment of municipal engagement across CAEH teams.

  • Grow municipal uptake of CAEH’s services through trusted relationships, expanding the reach and impact of CAEH’s social enterprise.
