Data Analyst Lead

<strong>Job Description<br><br></strong>On behalf of our client, Affinity is seeking a Data Analyst Lead to advance enterprise data platform reporting. This role is responsible for leading a squad dedicated to Equity Financial reporting. We’re looking for an experienced individual who is committed to understanding their stakeholders, collaborating cross functionally, improving and following requirements and gathering and development best practices, and has a history of delivering. This role will play a critical part in aligning business needs with data capabilities, ensuring the delivery of actionable insights and operational transparency. The ideal candidate will have the ability to understand business priorities, translate them into meaningful measures of success, and guide the team toward delivering reporting that drives real decision making impact.<br><br>This is a senior business-facing data leadership role focused on defining and delivering enterprise financial and operational reporting. The role sits at the intersection of business strategy, reporting, governance, analytics engineering, and stakeholder management. You will work directly with Finance, Operations, and technology teams to define key metrics, reporting requirements, and business outcomes while leading a cross-functional delivery team responsible for building certified enterprise reporting solutions.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li> Stakeholder Engagement - Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and refine detailed reporting and dashboard requirements.</li><li> Requirements Definition - Translate business needs into clear, actionable product requirements and documentation for data solutions, with a focus on identifying the metrics, dashboards and needed to best enable business outcomes.</li><li> System Alignment - Ensure requirements are aligned with the capabilities and limitations of data applications (ex., dbt, Fabric) and source systems (ex., Yardi Voyager)</li><li> Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner with data engineering, BI developers, project management, and IT teams to validate feasibility and ensure smooth handoff for implementation.</li><li> Process Improvement - Identify gaps in current reporting workflows and propose scalable, data-driven improvements that strengthen the connection between business decisions and measurable results.</li><li> Status Reporting - Provide regular updates to project sponsors and leadership on progress, risks, and next steps.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Requirements<br><br></strong><ul><li>Proficiency with SQL and/or dbt.</li><li>Familiarity with Yardi (or similar enterprise platforms).</li><li>Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.</li><li>Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.</li><li>Experience in real estate, leasing, or marketing domains is a plus.</li><li>Previous experience in leading data analytics teams.</li><li>Experience planning and coordinating user acceptance testing, including business validation, issue resolution, and sign-off processes.</li><li>Experience establishing data definitions, metric governance, business glossaries, data ownership models, and reporting standards.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Top Skills Necessary<br><br></strong><ul><li>7+ years of total experience in data product management, business analysis, or a related field including proven experience gathering and translating complex reporting and dashboard requirements from business stakeholders into actionable data and analytics solutions.</li><li>3+ years of experience as a data analyst strong ability to connect business objectives with meaningful metrics, KPIs, reporting outputs, and measurable success criteria.</li><li>3+ years of experience leading requirements workshops and facilitating discussions across Finance, Operations, business, and technology stakeholders.</li><li>3+ years of experience utilizing enterprise data platforms, data warehousing, reporting tools, and data governance practices (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, dbt, Power BI, Tableau).</li><li>At least 1 project working with financial reporting, performance reporting, budgeting, forecasting, reconciliation processes, and enterprise reporting environments.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Affinity Earn<br><br></strong>Know someone who’s great for this, or any of our open roles?
