Working closely with the AFIWI team, the Coordinator helps create safe, engaging and culturally affirming opportunities that encourage creativity, confidence, leadership, participation and community connection.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Coordinate youth and teen programs, workshops, leadership activities and community events.</li><li>Support the planning and day-to-day organization of program activities, schedules and participant needs.</li><li>Assist with community outreach to engage children, youth and families in AFIWI programs.</li><li>Support participant registration, onboarding, attendance tracking and program documentation.</li><li>Communicate with youth, parents/guardians, instructors, volunteers and community partners as required.</li><li>Help promote programs and youth initiatives through approved social media, email communication and community outreach.</li><li>Support youth leadership and mentorship opportunities that encourage confidence, responsibility and community involvement.</li><li>Maintain basic program records and participation information to support reporting and evaluation.</li><li>Identify participant needs, emerging concerns or barriers to participation and communicate these to the appropriate AFIWI Lead or Direct of Operations</li><li>Work collaboratively with instructors, volunteers and the AFIWI leadership team to strengthen program quality and youth engagement.</li><li>Follow AFIWI's safeguarding, privacy, incident-reporting and professional-boundary requirements when working with children, youth and families.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Ideal Candidate<br><br></strong>The successful candidate will demonstrate a genuine interest in youth empowerment and community development and will be comfortable building positive relationships with young people and families.<br><br><strong>The Individual Should Be<br><br></strong><ul><li>Organized, dependable and able to manage multiple responsibilities.</li><li>A strong communicator with good interpersonal and relationship-building skills.</li><li>Comfortable working with children, teens, families and community partners.</li><li>Able to work independently while contributing positively to a team.</li><li>Comfortable using email, online registration systems, forms and basic digital tools.</li><li>Respectful of confidentiality, professional boundaries and safeguarding requirements.</li><li>Committed to creating inclusive, culturally affirming and welcoming environments for children and youth.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Areas of Focus<br><br></strong>Teen leadership development<br><br>Youth outreach and engagement<br><br>Program coordination<br><br>Community participation<br><br>Registration and communications support<br><br><strong>Time Commitment:</strong> 2-3 days/week (3-4.5 hours per day)<br><br><strong> Type:</strong> Volunteer / Part-Time Community Support Role<br><br>Volunteer Requirements<br><br>Whether you meet these requirements or not, we encourage you to share your interest in us.
