Summary</p><p><br></p><p>Canada Ututoring Learning Institute is looking for responsible, patient, and organized After School Program Teachers / Supervisors to support students during our after school program.</p><p><br></p><p>This role is not simply “watching children.” The teacher is expected to maintain a safe and structured environment, support students with homework and basic academic routines, guide reading and learning activities, supervise transitions and dismissal, and help students build positive habits after school.</p><p><br></p><p>The ideal candidate should enjoy working with children, be able to manage a small group calmly and confidently, and understand the importance of safety, responsibility, communication, and consistency in an educational setting.</p><p><br></p><p>Key Responsibilities</p><p><br></p><p>Student Supervision and Safety</p><p><br></p><p>* Actively supervise students during the after school program.</p><p>* Ensure students remain in assigned areas and follow classroom, hallway, washroom, and dismissal procedures.</p><p>* Monitor student behaviour and intervene promptly when safety, order, or respectful conduct is at risk.</p><p>* Supervise transitions, snack time, homework time, reading time, activities, and pick-up.</p><p>* Report injuries, incidents, conflicts, missing students, or safety concerns to management immediately.</p><p>* Follow all student sign-in, sign-out, parent pick-up, emergency, and incident reporting procedures.</p><p><br></p><p>Homework and Academic Support</p><p><br></p><p>* Support students in completing homework, reading assignments, worksheets, and school tasks.</p><p>* Help students understand instructions and stay focused during study time.</p><p>* Encourage students to complete work independently before offering guidance.</p><p>* Assist with basic English, math, reading, spelling, writing, and study routines depending on student needs.</p><p>* Communicate recurring academic concerns to the program lead or management.</p><p><br></p><p>Classroom and Program Management</p><p><br></p><p>* Create a calm, structured, and respectful after school environment.</p><p>* Lead or assist with age-appropriate activities, including reading, educational games, simple STEM/craft activities, discussion, and quiet work time.</p><p>* Prepare and organize materials before and after program sessions.</p><p>* Keep the classroom clean, safe, and orderly.</p><p>* Help students develop routines such as unpacking, organizing homework, cleaning up, and preparing for dismissal.</p><p><br></p><p>Behaviour Guidance</p><p><br></p><p>* Use positive guidance, clear expectations, and age-appropriate redirection.</p><p>* Encourage respectful communication, cooperation, responsibility, and kindness.</p><p>* Address disruptive, unsafe, or disrespectful behaviour calmly and consistently.</p><p>* Escalate repeated or serious behaviour concerns to management.</p><p>* Never use physical punishment, threats, humiliation, yelling, or degrading language.</p><p><br></p><p>Parent and Team Communication</p><p><br></p><p>* Communicate with parents professionally when needed, especially regarding pick-up, homework completion, behaviour, or urgent concerns.</p><p>* Provide brief updates to management about student progress, incidents, or recurring issues.</p><p>* Work cooperatively with other teachers, tutors, teaching assistants, volunteers, and administrative staff.</p><p>* Follow U-Tutoring’s standards for confidentiality and professionalism.</p><p><br></p><p>Required Qualifications</p><p><br></p><p>* Experience working with children in a school, tutoring, camp, after school, daycare, or educational setting.</p><p>* Strong sense of responsibility and reliability.</p><p>* Ability to supervise and manage children calmly and confidently.</p><p>* Good communication skills with students, parents, and coworkers.</p><p>* Ability to support basic homework and academic tasks.</p><p>* Professional attitude and willingness to follow U-Tutoring policies and procedures.</p><p>* Must be punctual, organized, and able to work during after school hours.</p><p><br></p><p>Preferred Qualifications</p><p><br></p><p>* Experience with Ontario elementary students.</p><p>* Experience supporting English, math, reading, writing, or homework completion.</p><p>* Experience managing small groups of students.</p><p>* CPR / First Aid certification is an asset.</p><p>* Police Vulnerable Sector Check or willingness to obtain one, if requested.</p><p>* Mandarin speaking ability is an asset but not required.</p><p><br></p><p>Working Hours</p><p><br></p><p>Typical shifts may fall within weekday after school hours, such as:</p><p><br></p><p>Monday to Friday, approximately 4p.m. to 7p.m.</p><p><br></p><p>Actual hours will depend on program enrollment, student schedules, school dismissal times, and operational needs.</p><p><br></p><p>Compensation</p><p><br></p><p>Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, assigned duties, and scheduled hours.</p><p><br></p><p>Ideal
